Welcome to the Upper Silesian Rehabilitation Center "Repty" in Tarnowskie Góry. The Upper Silesian Rehabilitation Center "Repty" (GCR "Repty") has begun its activity since spring 1961 as the Convalescent Rehabilitation Center for Miners. It was built by Silesian Voivod - General Jerzy Zietek. Today GCR "Repty" consists of 560 beds in 13 rehabilitation, departments (4 cardiac, 6 neurological and 3 orthopedic rehabilitation wards). It offers also outpatient services: general rehabilitation, speech therapy and cardiology. GCR "Repty" cooperates with Medical University Clinics and other departments of Silesian hospitals. The patients are admitted to the Center with following disorders:

Heart diseases:
after cardiac surgery,
after percutaneous interventions,
coronary heart diseases, after acute myocardial infarction,
with other heart disorders.

Neurological diseases:
patients with hemiparesis and hemiplegia after stroke,
brain injury, spinal cord injury, after neurosurgery, patients with hemi- and tetraparesis; hemi- and tetraplegia,
Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis,
other neurological disorders.

Orthopedic diseases:
patients after joint replacement and other orthopedic surgery,
aggravation of chronic arthritis disorders,
patients after spine surgery caused by discoarthrosis.

The Staff.
The rehabilitation teams consist of physicians, physiotherapists, nurses, psychologists, social workers, speech therapists and other health professionals. Our staff continues and develops the 45-years experiences in rehabilitation of GCR "Repty" by improvement of qualifications during residency programs, courses after graduate studies, and regular internal training. The hospital provides residentiary in rehabilitation for physicians and education for physiotherapists. The students from Silesian Medical University and Academy of Physical Education from Katowice and other universities and also medical colleges have their trainings in our Center.

Diagnostic:
The Center provides early post hospital rehabilitation which needs intensive medical care and diagnostic. We offer following services:
imaging diagnostic (X- ray, ultrasound, densitometry);
noninvasive diagnostic of heart diseases (EKG, ECHO, 24 hours EKG and RR registration by Holter method, exercise testing);
diagnostic of movement system;
electromyography.

Physiotherapy:
There are 42 gymnastic rooms, cryogenic chamber (using low temperatures in therapy) and large swimming pool. The 90000 physiotherapeutic procedures are provided monthly. Exercise training service is led in:
the rooms for walk training;
the room for bicycle exercise monitoring training;
the room for hand improvement;
fitness room;
rooms for other form of body training.

Other physical therapy service:
heat therapy;
hydrotherapy;
massage;
electrotherapy;
cryotherapy;
phototherapy;
inhalations,
ultrasaund therapy.
